User signup emails go to spam folder

Hi Opigno Currently when a new users signsup for an account the auto-generated email ends up in the spam folder. Is there a way around this? Is there a way to decrease the likelihood of this happening? Additionally can one use a WYSIWYG for the signup emails to make them look more visually appealing, or is there a way to integrate this service with Mailchimp? Thanks in advance, Taimur

Hi Taimur,

Hi Taimur,

Do you refer to a cloud platform for the emails? If so could you try again and contact us directly if you still have the problem.

Regarding the format, it's possible to send emails with HTML format (it requires to implement the format as an email theme)

Hi Axel,

Hi Axel, No I was referring to the user signup welcome emails that have the link to validate their email address and generate their login. They currently are sent from @myopigno.org, can they be sent from my custom domain instead? It would probably help avoid the spam filter. Also yes it would be good to discuss an email theme so that you can use html in these welcome emails ongoing. Thanks, Taimur

Hi Taimur,

Hi Taimur,

Yes it's possible to send through your own domain.

You should:

- go to configuration > system > site information and change the default email address

- go to configuration > system > smtp authentication support and enter the credentials for your mail server and the email to be used

Thanks Axel

Thanks Axel I'm having some trouble getting it working, - I'm getting an error log that the test email cannot be sent. I've tried setting it up according to this Drupal tutorial http://www.symphonythemes.com/drupal-blog/configure-drupal-smtp-gmail and also with logins from my hosting provider. I have a primary email account [email protected]. I have other email aliases associated with this [email protected] [email protected]. I would like the emails to be sent from [email protected] Do you have any tips for getting things working? Thanks Taimur

Hi Taimur

Hi Taimur

I changed your SMTP to smtp.gmail.com and it seems to works better (there was previously a message "impossible to connect to smtp server")

You should now check the credentials (there is a "could not authenticate" error message).

Best regards

Thanks for looking Axel.

Thanks for looking Axel. Unfortunately it still doesn't want to play nice. I'm wondering if it's something to do with this https://support.google.com/a/answer/180504?hl=en

No I don't think so.

Here is the precise error message:

Could you check the steps indicated in the link just above?

Okay it's working. For anyone

Okay it's working. For anyone using multiple Gmail accounts you have to ensure you have allowed access for that particular account, by clicking on Googles links it will only allow access for the account you're currently signed into. Login to Gmail and then click on your profile photo, select relevant Gmail account and then 'Account'.

Unfortunately I can't at the moment specify to have the email address to show as though sent from [email protected], rather than [email protected]. Would be good to figure this out at some point but happy it's in general working. Thanks for your help
