Badge or Certificate Rewards

What’s the best way to display an animation or symbol (like a certificate or badge), like if a student gets 3 answers correct in a row? I see in the Opigno user manual that certificates get awarded upon a lesson’s completion, so I’m thinking a badge might fit this need more. However, I only saw in the documentation how to add a badge to a lesson, not how to apply it to a user given a set of conditions. I suppose the “Action” drop down and the Drupal Rules module are where I should look for answers? Is there documentation I can read through to get up to speed on this? Thank you
