Automated Email notification for Forums

I want to send an eMail to the administrator every time a Forumthema is add/changed. Is there a better way than using the core Trigger module with the corresponding action ?

You may simply add this forum_notification module: https://www.drupal.org/project/notifications_forum

Or also add a rule if the notifications should only be sent to you and not the users.
