Adding new content

Hi to everyone. I'm testing this LMS to evaluate switching from my wordpress site (www.globaltranslations.it) to this one. So, my need is to add my wordpress site's pages to the LMS system. How can I do? I tried as stated in the user's guide, but it didn't work mainly for two reasons: 1) After a sample custom page creation, the system told me I wasn't able to access to the page and I wasn't able to view it both in the frontend nor in the backend; 2) I wasn't able to make an icon appear near the title of the page in the left main menu: maybe I was wrong with the css code in page options. If anyone of you would be so kind helping me resolve these issues... I would like to switch to this platform, since it seems to meets all my present and future needs for an LMS system. Just because WP is not capable to manage such a huge quantity of informations and coding, I set the online shop, the forum and the LMS as external sites linked to my main site, leaving on it only the blog and general infos. So, nowadays I have to manage 4 sites: too complex and too time-spending in publishing, maintaining and backing up all the data. In the end, the time left to create courses and other vital content is really too small. And it is not worth dealing with such a this kind of activity. So, I'm looking around to evaluate an all-in-one solution to my needs: the Opigno LMS looks fitting and matching all of my requirements and needs. But, in this very first step of testing, I need your help to make the Opigno LMS fit my needs. Awaiting a prompt reply, I thank you in advance and I send my best regards. Mr. Tommaso Passaretta.

Hi,

Hi,

Could you explain better what you mean by "adding my wordpress site's pages to the LMS" ?

Would you like to encapsulate the content, or doing some links to WP ?

What did you try from the user manual?

Adding new content

Hi, axel. Thank you for the reply. I try to better explain myself. If you visit my WP site you'll see that it is structured this way: - Main site: the main menù and submenus contain all the pages, among which you can find: - general pages, that are only info pages; - a forum page, in which you'll find a link to an external forum build with phpbb - a shop page, in which you'll find a link to an external shop build with prestashop - a courses page, in which you'll find a link to an external LMS build with chamilo. So, let's consider that Opigno already has on its own forum, shop and courses functionalities. What is lacking are the general info pages of my WP site. I wanted to re-create them from the scratch in Opigno, by adding the content of my pages in WP installation (e.g. copy and paste the WP content in new pages in Opigno). Now the problem is that when I create a new page in Opigno (e.g. "Prova") and add it to the main menu on the left, the system displays a warning like this "You are not allowed to see and access this page". This message is displayed both in the backend and in the frontedend. To create a new page I referred to the following procedure, described in the user manual. 13.6. Main menu management Opigno's main menu can be easily customized, in order for you to add other items. To do that, simply go to the Administration menu, and then click on "Manage menu" (Appearance section). (Done) You can then manage the items of this menu, and add a new one by clicking on the "Add link" button. (Done) You will then have to define the title, the path (Done), and, in order to have an icon appearing for this new item, an ID or class (not done). You will of course have to change the CSS (not done, since i do not need and want to change the style of the predefined template of a new page), which can be done in the Administration Area in "Manage display settings". Can you explain in what I am wrong, please? Thank you.

Which content type did you

Which content type did you use to create your contents?

I guess you would need a "basic page" (classical Drupal content type) that is not activated in Opigno. So you should enable it first.

The section 13.6 of the user manual explains how to add a menu entry once the page is created.

Which content type did you

Hi axel. I couldn't find a basic page content in the Opigno content menu. The only item I found related to pages is "add custom page" under structure>pages>add custom pages menu (basically, is the same functionality of the menu described in the section 13.6 of the user menu... or am I wrong?). And this could be related to your statement to enable the basic content type... If this would be the case, how have I to do to enable it? Please, take into account I am a really first time beginner with the Drupal planet. But I am fascinated by it and I can understand the power and potentialities other CMS do not have. I took a look around and I didn't find any other LMS (under Joomla or WP) so complete and well done as this one: that's why I want to learn Drupal and switch to it. Many thanks.
