how to implement custom background image into course/class certificate

Hi, I want to add a background image (file in jpeg or png format) to the course/class certificate PDF. We can definitely add/remove any image in the body field of the certificate; but unable to figure out how to apply an image as it's background image. Please suggest the possible way(s); applying which can achieve my purpose. Regards, Surendra
