Subscribing to Course Issue

So I am playing around with this and I created two course added a lesson to each course and added one question to each lesson. I then created a regular user account, logged in and subscribed to the courses. When I click on My Courses, nothing shows up. Under training catalog I can see the two courses and a link for unsubscribing. Going to the course does not show the lesson or the forum.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi jrobinsson,

Hi jrobinson,
If the user cannot see the course under my courses, it is because you did not approve the subscription. Subscription is requested and membership is put as pending, waiting for the group manager to approve it or not.
Best regards

Where do I approve it? And

Where do I approve it? And is it possible to change the rule to make it immediate? My admin account received no messages or emails about a user requesting membership.

Hi jlrobinson,

Hi jlrobinson,
What you can do is to put the course as public and in this case the users will be able to see the full content of the course. But not see it under my courses, for that their membership has to be approved anyway. What you can do is create a rule that on course request you check if it is public, and if it is you set the membership as active.
The email exchange in this situation is a good idea, ill add it to our queue.
Best regards

When I clicked on the

When I clicked on the subscribe button it gave me a text box to write something so I assumed my admin account would receive an email or a private message notifying me to approve or disapprove the membership.

So where do I go to make the membership active?

Inside the course you go to

Inside the course you go to Users.
Here you will see the users that are pending and the message they sent. You alter their membership there.
Best regards

Ok, found it.

Ok, found it.

Definitely adding some kind of notification system to the admin and student manager would be beneficial.

Would it be possible to

Would it be possible to simplify the approval process? Say for example you have 10 courses and a user logs in and subscribes to all of them. The current process would require the manager to go to each course and approve the user for each one which is kind of tedious. I'm not sure what a better way would be, maybe a Course Approval screen that shows all of the users and what courses they subscribed to with a check box. Not sure on that one.

Hi jlrobinson

Hi jlrobinson

Thanks for your ideas, this is a nice point.
I wonder if this does not require a more global look at the subscription process. Maybe the best would be to have the following course typologies:
- public without validation: visible and accessible for everybody, even anonymous users, without validation (for exemple for demo courses)
- private without validation: the course is only visible for users with an active account on the Opigno platform (that can be or not manually validated), and users can subscribe and directly access to the course without validation
- private with validation: the course is only visible for users with an active account, and users subscriptions require a manual validation by a teacher or admin ; in this case it should be not a problem to validate accesses inside each course since it will concern a minority of courses and require careful check of the subscription by the teacher

What would you think about that?
For sure an email notification would be nice for the third case.

I am in favor

I came across opigno yesterday and have downloaded it, installed it, and set up the first course and lesson as well as changing the appearance. Overall I am pleased and I think I will be switching to this platform. I concur with axel in that I need three access/subscription/permission tracks.

To basically present the same idea but in my wording, I would call them: - Public- viewable by anyone including anonymous guests - Open Subscription- meaning to view you have to complete an automated registration and/or purchase process - Validated Subscription- meaning to view you have to complete a registration and/or purchase and then be manually validated

Same idea as axel just a different way of putting it in the hopes that it helps the discussion.

Hi mr.kharitonov,

Hi mr.kharitonov,

If you go to the rule configuration you can see that by default there are already rules for sending emails (that are disabled by default)

admin/config/workflow/rules/reaction/manage

OG member subscribe (Pending) would be the one, in case the user subscription is not automatically set as active.

Best regards

Hi

The release 1.8 is now available, which will make possible more advanced access management, like discussed in this thread.

Best regards,
