Adding push notifications to your Opigno platform

It's easily possible to add push notifications to your Opigno instance, for example to inform users about their achievements (training successfully passed), new notification messages for their trainings, new contents added, etc.

To do that, you can use Pushover platform ( and the related Drupal module (

The installation process is pretty straightforward and allows very flexible configuration for your notifications, since being based on rules.

Here is a short tutorial on how to proceed.

First, create an account on

Then install and enable the Pushover module on your Opigno platform:

You should give permission to all authenticated to fill-in their pushover field ("Pushover User field").

On the Pushover website, you should create a new Application/Plugin by filling in:

  • - the name
  • - the type (choose website)
  • - a description (optional)
  • - URL (the one of your Opigno platform)

You will then get an API key that you will be able to enter into your Opigno instance, in the Pushover configuration interface. You will also need to mention the user key that is mentioned on your account.

Every user expecting to receive Push notifications will have to edit his user account on the Opigno platform to mention the Pushover user key and user device (also available after registering their mobile device on

To configure the notifications sent by your Opigno platform, your will have to create a new rule, or edit an existing one. Let's assume in this example that you want to send Push notifications to the users successfully finishing a course. To do that, simply edit the related rule (Check user completed course), and add a new action as below:

Then fill-in the data selector as user:name, a value and title for the notification, save the rule, and you are done !

Thanks to this small configuration done on your Opigno platform, users who mentioned Pushover keys in their user profile will now receive push notifications on their mobile devices when finishing a course.
